NRMA CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic

The annual NRMA CareFlight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic was on yesterday and the BikesMoveUs (BMU) crew were there to represent!

We managed to raise $675 to keep the NRMA CareFlight Helicopters in the air, and what's more, as a team we managed to come 2nd overall out of 29 teams only being beaten by the fully sponsored Rockstar Racing team who came first. How fucking awesome is that?! We're so happy. I'm so proud :)

I've not pedalled a bicycle in over a month and what's worse I've been drinking a lot, and generally being a slob. Despite not training I killed last years time by 20 minutes and it felt good to dig deep!

Charles' B'day @ Wagaya

A wild night was had on Friday night. It was Charles Kha's 28th B'day at Wagaya (my fave Japanese piss up joint).

It didn't take too long for the Autosalon guys to start their Jackass'esque daring which had everyone gagging. Willy grabbing sushi with his toes and forcing said sushi into Papz's mouth scored Papz $200, Andy downing a ping pong ball of Wasabi, delivered once again by foot scored him $200 and then the mother of all dares, Willy squishing cake into Papz's hairy mangina armpit, Papz doing armpit farts to compact the cake, then of all people, Suga eating the cake off Papz's armpit and licking the cream off!!! (vomit!) scored her $300.

Billie Jean intro

The first 37 seconds is all you need to watch, what an intro. Made me teary last night watching it. I'm so glad I got to see him live in 8y (the Bad tour). I only wish I could remember more of it.

Michael Jackson dead

RIP MJ. Pretty shocking news.

I was hanging out at MC Cyclery today and already the Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett jokes were surfacing via SMS. Sad!

I grew up on Thriller (vinyl of-course!), and I played my Bad cassette until the sound quality degraded. I even ran out and bought some expensive suede pointy boots with heaps of buckles on the side.

House rennovations update

Kitchen is on the way.


We sanded back the painted roofing out on the deck, turns out it's lovely timber underneath.


The small guest bathroom. It's bright and a lot more spacious than the old bathroom. The mosaic wall had to be re-done as we were'nt happy with it, it's looking much better now.


Shelf built into the wall to hold shampoo and stuff.

PS: Transformers was AOK. Heaps of action, but even more cheese (totally expected of-course). I really want to say that it was awesome, but cheese really hurts my tummy.

I did however get a gift for registering tickets online. Initially I thought it was just a crappy maglite style thing but turns out it's a laser pointer which projects the autobot symbol onto surfaces. AWESOME!

I used to imagine a 1:1 scale gundam at the War Memorial in Canberra when I was a kid whilst carrying my toy Gundam, which I still have, it's a heavy die-cast Gundam, shame he's missing his hands:



In other robot news... Zi and I are off to see Transformers tonight. I almost cried in the last one during one of the action scenes. You know that shakey tremble you get in your chest? Yeah I got that feeling. I was just so... happy!

Weekend wrap

Monday again. Still in limbo with the house renovations, sleeping in a lot lately, pretty much in hibernation.

On Saturday Christina and I were invited to Toby and Belinda's wedding (friends of Christina's family). The MC turned out to be a guy off the JDMST forums, and Howie and Jane were there also, such a small world (I'm just glad I don't go out there doing embarassing shit as I'd hate to be caught making a fool of myself all the time). The wedding was at a lovely little church, with a very long and traditional service, the reception was at a Chinese restaurant in the city, a traditional affair with lion dancing, Chinese costumes too (the bride got changed 4 times!).

Christina and I couldn't help but take it all in as research, with a view to what we should and shouldn't do at our own wedding. We think we've got some pretty awesome ideas :)

My old SRV250

I've been well aware that I've gotten into a lot of the hobbies that my Dad was into (cars, aquariums) but one thing that's freaking me out a little lately is getting back into things I was into as a kid. It's got to be a sign of getting older and it almost feels like I've come full circle, or that I'm starting my life over again.

I was so into bicycles when I was a teenager and when I was in university I never ever wanted a car. I fought with Dad a lot before I finally bought my motorbike (Mum and Dad hated the idea of me riding one). I bought a Yamaha Virago, which was a chopper style bike, you couldn't lean the thing into corners and I very quickly wore away the foot pegs doing so (sparks a plenty!). Sometimes on longer bends I ended up in the wrong lane because I simply couldn't hold my line. I got rid of the bike (amazingly the guy who bought it off me crashed it on the way home on a long bend, he ended up in a fence!) and bought a Yamaha SRV250, lovely cafe racer style upright which had the same weak 250cc engine the Virago had, but that was plenty tough for me.

At the end of the day I got scared riding it, not so much because of crazy Sydney drivers, more because I did some silly things on it which I was lucky to get away with. I sold it for a car and the rest was history... or was it?

Getting back into bicycles, and building a bicycle with a motor on it, and hanging out with guys who are into motorbikes has made me want a motorbike again. I've already bought a few motorbike magazines and I've even been haunting bikesales.com.au. I've still got my riding license too... the only thing stopping me at this moment is a gorey image of a dead motorcyclist that Ash sent me yesterday (I would not have clicked the link if I knew what I was about to see).

Be careful, huh?

Weekend wrap

Great weekend, relaxed, great (cold) weather, lots of eating, no riding, but hey, it's all good :)


I just finished designing the new winter brochure for the ACP. My sister Jamie and her husband Richie helped on this one. I know they say to avoid working with family, but I thought we made a pretty good team!


Rozelle Markets are fantastic if you love antique stuff.


Great views to be had at the end of Darling St. Balmain. I'm a bit envious of the people who live there.


Fry up at the Sydney Fish Markets. As much as I love fresh seafood, the way they season the goods just ruins it but I always go back for more (?!).


Dropped in to Deus on Sunday, gawked at their hot bikes and splurged out on a new Jacket.


Whilst I was there I picked up some old skool Moto grips for my deathtrap bike.


One of the highlights of the day was grabbing some fresh Chinese bakery buns from Eastwood. They were so good they had me making audible "Mmmmm's" down the street.

Gran Turismo 5

Looks great. I've spent hours of my life on the Gran Turismo series (and most of the cash I've ever earnt, it's the game that inspired me to buy and modify my GT-R!). I hope I stay away from it?!

She's alive!

My bike started 1st go which was awesome :) I've got a serious fuel leak issue which I've just fixed now that I'm home, my drive chain stretched (or the tensioner gave way) which caused my chain to come off a few times, that kinda ended my night (not to mention I couldn't see jack shit, it was getting dark!).

Engagement Dinner

Last night Christina and I had our Engagement dinner (my mum's side) at Bennelong (Sydney Opera House). The night was amazing, the moon was out, projections on the Opera House, great weather, people everywhere and the food and service was amazing.

House rennovations update

I've been staying at Mums lately as there's no kitchen here, and the bedroom walls are absout to come down. It's all coming together though... I think?!


Guest bathroom.


Bedroom wall will be opened up and that other room becomes part of the bedroom.


The deck before the slats went on. The new stairs are twice as wide as the old ones.


The slats are on, we have put the slats on in a very unconventional way, this way (they're on their sides) you can see through them a lot more than if you just nailed them to the posts. We're suuuper happy with how it's turned out! Bewtter pics are in order.
